Why I switched network marketing companies




Is it time for you to switch companies?
Do you feel that nudge towards a new adventure?
Maybe you have been thinking about it for awhile or maybe it is a new feeling that has popped up. Either way it is a hard feeling to push away. Once the feeling creeps in it is something you have to face. 

What is it that is holding you back from following your gut? I mean if you are reading this it is very likely that you are considering making a switch. Is it the fear of making a mistake, the fear of being labeled a quitter, possibly leaving your current company 'too soon', or is it fear of being the subject of the gossip mill? Regardless of your reasons, if your having second thoughts about whether you should stick it out or hang in there... maybe I can help. 

You might be thinking... who are you to help me. Well this conversation is one that I have had numerous times and one that I literally just walked through. I recently made the VERY difficult decision to switch network marketing companies and start something new. 

Truth be told, I was torn up until the day I announced it on my social media but in my heart I knew it was the right decision.  There are reasons you should leave your current company and reasons that I don't find to be a good enough reason to jump ship. 

Let's dive deeper into the reasons I decided to make my switch. 

LOST MY PASSION

Not only did I lose my passion for the company I was with but in turn it was making me lose my passion for the industry I have loved for over 10 years. 

This is supposed to be fun!! Did you know that? If you are not enjoying this journey, you need to ask yourself why? If you don't look forward to talking about your business consider whether it is a good fit for you in the first place. If you are not passionate about what you doing, find something else. You have to be a product of your product and be inspired by it. 

I knew that I had to find my spark and my joy in my business again. I tried for over 1.5 years to resuscitate my passion for my business. It never came back. That is when I knew it was time to move on. 

TEAM CULTURE
I know, I know what all the leaders of every company tell you... it is up to you to thrive not other people. I call BS on that! If the team culture in your company is toxic and you do not feel celebrated RUN FOR THE HILLS, lol. Ideally, you really want to be connected to a culture that is truly supportive of  YOU and not worried about what you can do for them. If you are not being fully appreciated where you are, MOVE ON to a team and culture that will embrace you. NEVER stay because of others expectations of you. I knew I wanted to be with a group of people who prayed over my business and appreciated me no matter my rank.

IT IS OKAY TO MAKE A CHANGE. IT IS OKAY TO SWITCH COMPANIES. 

I am not sure where the idea got put into our brains that we have to stay with one network marketing company the rest of our lives or we can not be taken seriously. People around you change professions constantly, this is no different.

With that being said... 
I believe that if you are switching companies because you think it is going to be easier or the grass is greener on the other side... that is not a good reason. If you struggle in one company there is a good chance you will struggle in your next company too, until you develop the right skill and the right mind-set.

Wherever you go you have to be treating your business like a BUSINESS.

Of course, you can make a couple hundred bucks here and there by just putting in minimal effort. The beauty of this business is that it fits in the nooks and crannies of your life.  However, those big checks your chasing do not come with just luck and a few social media posts.

How I Really Feel About Having My Child Unschooled



I am overwhelmed.

That's the only word that I can think of that accurately describes my current state of mind. I know I am not alone in my feelings. Thousands of Moms, Dads, Grand-Parents, etc are in this same jumbled state of mind caused by COVID.

We went into spring break with an idea that it would be longer than planned and that was exciting at the time. However, we NEVER expected that I would become teacher, lunch lady, Spanish teacher, art teacher, music teacher, p.e. teacher, librarian, and counselor for the unforeseeable future. I now can say that I have a new found love and respect for all teachers.

The past week I was excited. Excited to throw together a make shift school in her room, plan fun science experiments, and thrilling outside activities.

Somewhere in the last two days my feelings have shifted. I am still excited and feel blessed that I can spend this time with my daughter. However, I am scared and fearful.

My daughter THRIVES on the structure and excitement of school and I thrive on having her in school during those hours to work my business from home and bring in another income to my household.

How am I going to find a new balance, how am I going to make sure she does not fall behind, how am I going to make sure she is not feeling alone in this shift? Then on the other side how am I going to still do all of the things that I need too? Like, shower.

As the possibility of her not being able to return to school this year becomes closer and closer and I keep asking myself these questions, I feel my anxiety rise to a new level.

Little did my child know that her last day of school was probably her last day of school this year. The last time she would be with her teacher that she has grown so fond of and cries at the mention of her name, the last time that she would be with this group of kiddos and her last day of the first year of school.

We are all doing the best we can given the circumstances. We are all worried that we can not give our kids the structure they need or teach them the fundamentals that they would be learning.

All I can keep thinking is that we are ALL IN THIS TOGETHER.

It's like we just all got thrown into this bad ass club of  PARENTS IN SURVIVAL MODE.

All of our kids are experiencing the same uprising of emotions and they will be okay! Kids are resilient they don't feel the pressures of the world like we do. Our first job is making sure we do not put that stress onto them. Let them continue to be unaware kids.

The only thing that we can do as parents is try to support and love them the best that we are capable of.  Don't feel like you are doing this alone, reach out to other parents for support and ideas! Make sure that you are taking care of your mental health, whatever that looks like for you.

I am just here taking it one day at a time, finding the small blessings and trying to stay sane!

DIY Lava Lamp




If you want to explore liquid density and chemical reactions, this is the science activity to try!


LAVA LAMP EXPERIMENT

To get started with your homemade lava lamp,  you will need 4 simple ingredients.


LAVA LAMP INGREDIENTS:

  • Water Bottles, Mason Jars, or Plastic Cups
    • We used a CORE water bottle 
  • Food Coloring
  • Baby Oil or Cooking Oil
  • Water
  • Alka Seltzer Tablets (generic is fine)
You might want to do this on a surface that you don't mind getting a little messy! 


         HOW TO MAKE A HOMEMADE LAVA LAMP

STEP 1: Gather your ingredients! 
STEP 2:  Fill your cup or jar(s) about 2/3 of the way with oil. You can experiment with more and less and see which one gives the best results. 


How else you can you change up this lava lamp science experiment? What if you didn’t add oil at all?  Or what if you change the temperature of the water?  What would happen?
STEP 3:  Next, you want to fill your jar(s) the rest of the way with water. These steps are great for helping your kids hone fine motor skills and learn about approximate measurements. We eyeballed our liquids, but you can actually measure out your liquids.

STEP 4:  Add drops of food coloring to your oil and water and watch what happens.

STEP 5:  Now it’s time for the grand finale of this lava lamp experiment! It’s time to drop in a tablet of Alka Seltzer. Make sure to watch closely as the magic starts to happen!


When the lava lamp chemical reaction slows down, add another tablet.

Building Challenge









Day One! It's official I am homeschooling Kinley. As most of the parents out there that were unexpectedly thrown into teaching our kids, I feel out of my league and slightly overwhelmed. 

One thing I think everyone should keep in mind is that this is NEW to all of us, so give yourself mountains of GRACE during this time. Don't compare yourself to what everyone else is doing and defiantly don't try to revamp your entire house to a classroom for your child's class. Remember for most people this is going to be a temporary solution to a chaotic situation. 

I could tell right away that Kinley was craving structure and missing her classroom schedule. I decided that it would be easier on both of our emotions if we implemented some kind of schedule. 

Everyday I will be doing a project with Kinley and will share it here or on social media. If you are looking for simple, free/affordable and quick projects to do with your kiddos then follow along with us! 

Here was today's project! 


MARSHMALLOW AND TOOTHPICK BUILDING

SUPPLIES YOU WILL NEED 

Toothpicks

 Bag of Marshmallows



Kinley was pumped for this project! I think her excitement came from the fact that I purchased fruity marshmallows that she was pumped to shovel in her mouth! 

We started by building simple shapes for the base- squares and triangles. Very quickly I realized that she was way past the basic shapes and she started rambling off shapes I hadn't known since my years in school! 



After building a few more shapes for the base, we moved onto connecting them to form a wider base (a building principle we learned while tower building is a wide base is a sturdy base).


Try building marshmallow towers with your kids. 





Will they be more intrigued with artistic design, with the challenge of height or will they just decide to eat the entire bag.


We only snacked on a few marshmallows during the building stage, we still have half a bag left to do some more challenges in the future.

My Top 8 Books to Read During Quarantine



If your anything like me there is a bookshelf full of dusty, unopened novels and self help books that have been collecting over the years. You stare at them in hopes that one day the world will slow down enough for you to get lost in the words written on those pages.

Let me first say that my bookshelf might differ a little bit from yours. You are not going to find many fiction novels on my shelf. Except for my growing collection of John Grisham. I prefer self help and motivational reads. If that's not your thing, well girl, you do you! However, I do highly recommend allowing your self to spend a few hours diving into one of these books on this list.

Now there are many books that I would recommend on Audible but I will keep that for another list. For this list I went straight to the bookshelf and pulled these ones down for you!

1. You Are The Girl For The Job- Jess Connolly
Now I might be a little partial to this book by Jess Connolly right now as I am doing my second bible study with it. This book is going to light a fire deep down in your soul that is going to help you go after all those dreams that you think are too big and encourage you to live out your God-given purpose! I also highly encourage you to go grab yourself the study book that goes along with this book.

2. Uninvited- Lysa TerKeurst
This book just happened to fall in my shopping cart at just the right time and I am ready to read it again. Have you ever felt rejected? How about left out, less than or lonely? Well this book is going to be one that your going to want to add to your Amazon cart right now!  Lysa helps to remind you that you are LOVED more than you can ever imagine!

3. Beginners Pluck*- Liz Forkin Bohannon
Okay, this one is just one of those books that has you silently giggling at her honesty. If you are a dreamer or a doer then this book is for you as it will help you figure out those next steps.

4.The 5 Love Languages- Gary Chapman
I actually have not one but TWO copies of this book currently sitting on my bookshelf. Yes, it is that good that for some reason I thought one copy was not sufficient. EVERYONE should read this book, even the men in our lives. Do you know your love language?

5.The Best Yes- Lysa TerKeurst
The second book on the list by Lysa. I can gaurentee that I am not the only person that gets overwhelmed with the demands that are put on them. It took this book for me to understand that YES and NO are some of the most powerful words that we speak. Learning what to say yes to is KEY!

6. Boundaries- Dr. Henry Cloud & Dr. John Townsend
Have you been focusing more on being loved and giving then protecting your own boundaries? This is another read that everyone should put on their list. They talk about why we should have physical, mental and emotional and emotional boundaries.

7. The Richest Man Who Ever Lived- Steven K. Scott
I was skeptical when I picked this book up. However, it turned out to be one of the most intriguing books I have ever read. Too much to try to summarize but this verse is one I had highlighted.
Where there is no vision, the people will perish. -Proverbs 29:18

8. Right Of Thirst- Fran Huyler 
Okay, I threw a fiction one in for you! I tossed this one on the pile because it is honestly one of the only fiction books I have read more than once. Must mean it is a good one and worthy of the number 8 slot!

Keep in mind this is a list of my personal favorites and might not be at the top of everyone's list. Before you judge a book by it's cover I encourage you to take this down time to dive into one of these books!!

How to Boost Your Immunity



In times when everyone is out there buying up the world's supply of toilet paper it might be more important than ever to take your immune system seriously. Our immune system is like our special defense unity that works around the clock to protect our bodies and prevent us from getting sick.

These  are just a few of the ways that you can naturally BOOST your immune system.

1. DRINK YOUR WATER. 
These days most people are aware that the human body is made up of 60% water. However, they are still not consuming enough water on a daily basis. It only makes sense that our body NEEDS water to run properly and to flush all of the toxins out. If you are struggling to get in your water every day make it a CHALLENGE! 

2. EXERCISE. 
Did you just cringe. Hey listen I am right there with you exercising is not my favorite thing either. It is debatable whether this actually boosts your immunity but it does help anti bodies and white blood cells circulate in your body more rapidly. This allows your body to detect illness quicker. Don't think that you need to go sign up for a marathon. Just 20 minutes a day will make a huge difference. If you can not get outside sign up for one of the many at home workout programs available.

3. EAT HEALTHIER.
 Lay off the fried food and sugars for awhile and see how your body reacts. You need to be feeding you body enough nutrients through out the day to allow your immune system to perform at its best. If you are consuming a lot of sugar you are actually weakening your immunity. If you are having a hard time getting in your fruits and veggies I have list of supplements that I HIGHLY recommend.

4. GET PLENTY OF SLEEP. 
Yes, sleep is actually something that is really important to our health. This is because when we are sleeping our body does repairs and builds our immune system up.  It might not always be the easiest to get sound sleep, especially if you have kiddos! For optimum health you should be getting at least 7-8 hours of sleep. If you are having a hard time sleeping I recommend grabbing your self a eye mask and a diffuser with lavender.

5. TRY TO REDUCE STRESS. 
This is a hard one that many of can't seem to get done. Life has a way of continually throwing curve balls at us and increasing our stress levels. You might notice that in times of your life when you were highly stressed that you experienced being sick more frequently. This is because when we are stressed our body can not fight off infections as it should because we are losing sleep, not eating correctly, and putting our health on the back burner. Cortisol fights stress and inflammation but by being stressed all the time our body builds up a tolerance to Cortisol.

6. SUPPORT YOUR GUT HEALTH
This is something that so many of us neglect. Did you know that 70-80% of our immune cells are located in our gut. We should really be making our gut a priority. How do you do this? Make sure that you are on a quality probiotic. I take one that is both a probiotic and prebiotic. Your diet is going to play the biggest role in your gut health. One thing I also highly suggest is giving your gut a chance to rest and try out intermittent fasting.


I hope that this information helps you understand how you can naturally defend yourself from getting sick! There are so many other things that you can do including supplements, vitamins, etc.

20 Ways to Instanly Feel Happier





It is so easy to get in a funk, to let yourself just get lost in the negativity the world swarms us with.
I have been there MANY  more times than I would like to admit. Sometimes we can spend days in these emotions and have a hard time pulling our selves out. Having an off day happens, but there is no reason that you should allow your self to stay there.

Here is a list of simple and mostly free things that you can do in your home to instantly make you feel happiness. Who doesn't want to be a little happier?

1. PRAY. Even if it is awkward and unfamiliar to you.

2. Journal for 20 minutes about all the things you are grateful for. 

3. Get lost in a book. Or two. 

4. Jam out to your favorite music, and SING OUTLOUD

5. Look in the mirror and write down 5 things you love about your self

6. Watch the sunset

7. Look at old photo albums

8. Treat your self to a hot bath with your favorite products

9. Bake a cake or special treat

10. Have a dance party w/ yourself or with someone else

11. Call a friend and catch up 

12. Clean your sheets and then hop in them when they are still warm 

13. Redecorate a room of your home using items you already have

14. Clear out all your email folders

15. Give yourself an at home facial

16. Give 5 people a genuine compliment 

17. Turn off your phone for at least half a day

18. Listen to a motivational podcast

19. Pick up a hobby that you have not done in ages

20. Make a vision board
